Cruises visiting Southern coast of Spitsbergen (Norway)
The southern coast of Spitsbergen, separated from the Barentsoya and Edgeoya islands by the Storfjorden, is spotted by numerous glaciers, ice-covered bays and cliffs rich in seabirds. The Storfjord was once a favourite hunting ground for whalers. Boltodden, "the tip of the bolt", in reference to the one that was deposited here as a topographical marker by a researcher from the Polar Institute.
