This is a territory that is two-thirds the size of France and has 38,000 people living in it. Half are aborigines descended from Australia's first inhabitants. These distant ancestors have bestowed a culture and cave art with an ongoing sense of mystery. This is a region that you fly over or approach by sea because it is unspoilt and wild.
